  • Around 28 hours with WiFi on. Its kinda annoying how long it takes to charge 4+ hours from 0 to 100.

And it resets its name if the power ever goes out for more than 10 mins. That sucks.

Not terrible for a daily carry but not something I would take with me for trips.

  • Yeah. Works well.

    2.7.9

  • Yep you want it, you make it.

  • Yeah the retro gaming handheld community has some Linux viable ones with PortMaster but its just not the same as an officially supported mini Steam machine. I know its silly but I want one that is pocket-able instead of the massive SD.

That being said I love the Miyoo Mini Plus and other linux handhelds. They are flipping awesome!

  • I have a similar model 2016. Ubuntu worked the best on it. A trick is to connect the Ethernet so it can detect and download the latest drivers while its installing. WiFi and fans are spotty before that.

  • Its interesting last month or so youtube has seemed to switched on how it feels about Linux lately. You get small creators that are making videos like the above and its awesome.

    Its a good feeling.

  • Her enthusiasm is addicting. Love seeing people get so excited over using their own OS/Machine!

  • Just FYI I've contributed to the project before.

It works best on old kobos. Those are as easy as imaging an old sd card and running with it.

And the new kobos are VERY difficult to work with. The os is kinda slow on most models. The discord is the recommended way to talk to the main devs of the project. The project hasn't been practically updated in a long time.

Let me know if you end up using it!

  • Curiosity. It came with a book at the library.

Also Money. You make a lot more if you know Linux.

  • Just FYI for those who like self hosting with docker, the docker compose also works well as is.

But yunohost brings a lot to the table for those who want a very stable and easy install process.

  • Nice! Its my daily driver. Super easy to use it. And you can add Docker on top if need be and use the redirect app to make it easy.

Can't wait for the piefed install implementation :)

  • Excellent!

  • Shosetsu - The Free and Open Source Novel Reader for Android.

I queue up lots of things from royal road an other sources.

  • No joke I wonder how many of us nerds are on linux/lemmy.

  • You can do the same with cron btw depending on the OS(?). At least on debian systems. I think its @poweroff or @reboot if I recall correctly.

  • For me ive always used:

    • cron if its simple and can take care of itself.
    • systemd if its more complex and needs the OS to do a thing related.

Its not a hard set rule but its like 95% cron and some systemd on the side for me.

  • That is pretty funny!

  • Any links to the apps in question?

This is why installing software (side loading?) is so important on our own devices. Who cares if google has a problem? Its my device, I should be able to do what I want with it, including install software.

  • The effort they are putting towards x86 emulation will definitely help the broader Linux community. I saw a bit about 24 min in on gamer nexas video. That would help down the line on all sorts of devices.
