I should have also noted that this build doesn’t use a mk2 or mk3 spec fp either, it’s a long m3 bolt with the point machined to taste.

Ya I don’t know much about these builds but I’ve heard you can make them with basically hardware store parts which is pretty cool although a $240 glock isn’t much more

I was wondering, where may one find the Mk3? Is it in a beta? Thanks for any info.

  • u/TheAmazingX · 2023-07-23 21:44:43 UTC · score 1

The original BOM purchase was 123 bucks, then 30 for the glock barrel, 6 for threaded rods I underpurchased the first time, 20ish for filament, so I'll call it a clean 180. That also includes the collars I didn't end up using, and a 16" hydraulic pipe would cost equal or less than the glock barrel, so an ECM version would be about the same assuming you already have the equipment.

Also ended up with half a box of sticky weights, a variety pack of set screws, a ton of 1/4" nuts, and a machinist block to spare.

I can’t stand it personally. Too skinny up top, too steep an angle on the backstrap, finger grooves land in the wrong spots, and it just looks cringy to my eye.

I have, it’s just not my jam. I lay out my specific criticisms in another reply below, but it simply doesn’t fit my hands is the summary.

If you're building from scratch, I think this one is easier. The bolt assembly is the big difference, and this one involves much less machining. On the other hand, you can get pre-made kits for the mk2, which I did for my first, and that's the easiest route by far.

It may be ugly when you have the choice for whatever you want. This was designed for people who may not have such luxuries/rights and to be able to source the parts easily and without restrictions. So I'd say it deserves to be looked and judged by that since that's what makes it truly beautiful.

What do you think your total cost to build was give or take?

Hey what did you use for plugs at the bottom of the bolt I’m kinda stumped on the putting the firing pin into the bolt part

I like it. I've thought fromnthe first time I saw an fgc that the parts would be stronger if made where a rod went through all parts.

    DeAR22 - Barrel Nut Torque

Does anyone know what the DeAR22 barrel nut is supposed to be torqued to? Checked the OG and Re-release readme, and I don't see this mentioned anywhere.

Im assuming torquing it to normal specs would blow up the threads, so I wanted to double check.

    Thanks,

I recently posted about how to make a bolt with conventional screws. I don't know how crazy it would be to make a system like the Uintah Precision 308, similar to the Wisp 22 or the Bidens Bane.

Printed these at 196° but printing pla+ at 215° Base plate 60° 60mm/sec 15% infill overlap 100% in fill Printed with rails down Printed on a Kobra 2 Pro Brim: on Used elmers purple glue stick as well It seems to me like they came out pretty well.

Thought this would be the best place to ask. Is the trip supposed to touch the feed ramp? I know I need to polish it, which I did multiple times. It works fine besides the occasional jam which I’m attributing to the trip touching the feed ramp but I don’t want to polish too much.

    37mm question

If straight rifling allows the Franklin armory Reformation to be a "firearm" instead of a rifle legally, would straight rifling be okay on a 37mm without it being a DD? Historically straight rifling helped with black powder fouling and most 37mm use black powder as a lifting charge. I was wondering if this type of barrel for a homebrew mk19 that would have a high round count per point of use would be 1. Legal, and 2. Worth the effort for this purpose. If it is not legal, would it be worth it to register as a dd in order to reap those benefits for black powder. The alternative could also be, smooth barrel, screw apart 37mm casings that are meant for a smokeless charge (more pricey).

disclamer- I am not currently building this project, just tossing around thoughts in my brain meat, maybe this has been done already?

Any structural concerns printing a lower/upper in 2 half, and bolting/gluing them together afterwards? Its only a .22lr so it'll probably be fine, but I'm also curious how something like that would handle 9mm or even 5.56.

I was going to use pins to locate the two halves and marry them together with bolt and some 2 part epoxy.

so i got my hands on an arcus 98da kit(double action hi power clone). i had hoped to dev a frame from a trad hi power frame. i eventually found the factory frame files. in my search i happened upon a 3rd hand tool made by freeman for hi power(picture shown). in the picture theres a clearly printed hi power frame with metal rail inserts. i was told yes there is a beta for the hi power. but when i search for it i cant find it. i was told ivan is running the beta. ive reached out thru diff channels and cant get a response. which after the doxxing, i get y he is trying to lay low. so now im not really sure where to go from here.

id very much like to use the beta files because they put metal inserts in exactly where i had intended to already. so it would save me a lot of uneccessary dev time by starting with the beta frame. i have

I know there’s room for improvement but for the first print like this out of the box I’d say it did pretty good. PLA+ and 220-45. Other than the support interface leftover under the trigger gaurd there I think it came out pretty clean. So much better than my ender 3 pro imo. Now printing the mag release in black PLA+ to have that black on gray aesthetic haha.

Finished harlot... it is indeed a harlot... took 12 hours from start go finish. (12 hour print, firing pin and screwing it together literally takes 10 minutes) highly recommend for your first 3d gun, you can't really blow your fingers off with it and it takes light tinkering to calibrate it. Probably the most simplified 3d gun I've ever made.

I’m trying to find some info on barrel thickness. I found fence post that is 1 5/8” OD but I have the option of 18 or 16 gauge and wasn’t sure what I should go with. Thanks in advance
