Forgotten weapons has a pretty thorough video on how this system works, and C&arsenal has a deep dive video on various iterations of the concept

See also; the turner SMLE conversion, the Charleton rifle, and the Ross rifle conversion

Reminds me of when cartridge guns were invented many bought conversion cylinders for their black powder revolvers because it was cheaper to buy a new cylinder then at the time new Cartridge firing revolvers.

Yes, and also improved upon it. Keep the mag tube, barrrel, and spring loaded cup thing, but move that to the same part as the breechblock. This will leave you a three position breechblock, rotating a bit like a revolver. When locked, the tube and cup are inline, as is the breech and barrel. Afterwards, you crank the block a full turn, where it first ejects through a hole of some sort, then the cup lines up with the barrel and loads, then the breechblock lines up and locks again.

This is effectively a Hotchkiss revolving cannon, but tube fed and with stationary barrels and a rotating breechblock. Also the rotary motion of this allows for multiple magazine tubes to be fairly easy, if in need of some gears.

Can’t believe I’ve never seen this until now, quite a feat of technology for when it was created I’m sure. Very cool piece to own.

When your repeater conversion costs several times more than the gun it's installed on.

Could be done easily enough if you can get the right durability and spring tension, manufacturing your own springs is a bitch though

Another VSG welcomed into the world

My VSG took many months to build. Most of the moving parts are printed in PA6-CF. The stock is real, it was given to me specifically for this project. Condition was maybe a 6 out of 10, mfg date of 1948. It did require a lot of modifications to fit the barrel and upper parts. I also refinished the stock before final assembly. Front 'wood' piece is custom designed with the bayonet lug and an 80mm steel rod in the center for additional strength. Also conforms to the collar/sleeve that blocks the gas hole and hides it nicely. Printed, painted, then stained with alcohol ink to look similar to the wood stock. I have not fired it yet but will this weekend. Printed on Ender 3's with polymaker pla pro and pa6cf20 Thank you Stubbs for another phenomenal project!

I think the expiration date of the filament used in firearms will depend on factors such as wear rate and temperature changes. In your opinion, if it is never used and just sits in a corner at home, for example next to where you sleep, how long would it take for its reliability to start decreasing, for example losing strength by around 20%? I think rebuilding every 2 years may be necessary.

Still lots of work to do, slide tends to stick, so putting the work into that, and will sand, use some clear resin and give it a blowtorch pass for a return of the luster. One of them is getting laser etched tiger stripes.

    SSSVar .22 Conversion Trip

Hey guys! This is more a notification / hoping to find l testers. I remixed Remnants skip trip from the SSSVar to run with the Czech Point .22 Conversion uppers. I’ve got about 200 rounds through it but need more people to test it out. I had a lot of problems in the beginning with the bolt getting stuck to the rear or slowing down enough form drag to cause failure to feed and OBD. To get mine running I had to round the top face of the hammer and bend the hammer springs to reduce the spring power. Another problem I ran into was I rounded my hammer too much and now semi is 2 round burst. No clue if it’s a hidden feature or a problem now lmao.

Anyways if anyone has a .22 Conversion upper and wants to test it out just search my name on the sea! ANY info from other peoples testing would be appreciated!

Pa6 print got knocked off with brim

From my post yesterday I was having adhesion issues until everyone's input. Woke up this morning to check on it, and at 86% the taller piece got knocked free from the brim. Before it got knocked off, both pieces actually look great. What do you guys think caused this? And what's another way to try again?

Bambu a1 in a tent, filament dried at 100c, fed from a filament dryer at 70c, 300 nozzle temp and 100c bed temp (its what fixed the adhesion issues from yesterday. Used a .6 nozzle but had a few recommend going down to .4, would this help?

I designed two very simple suppressors a while ago. A short one for .22lr and a bigger one for an airgun. I only made my own design so I could add serial numbers and other mandatory stuff when printing them. I didn't think people would be interested in them but I keep getting questions about the files, so now I finally uploaded them on the sea. You can find them if you search for "two simple suppressors"

    Super Safety Binding Issue

Plenty of issues with another SS (will make more posts about the other one), but I had this one working for 500+ rounds. All of a sudden the bolt hits a dead stop with an audible and deep metal on metal thud sound when reaching the middle of the bolt cycle OR it binds up. Any advice as to how to fix this?

I already sanded the curve slightly in the trigger, dremeled the upper shelf as well as lower even though I have a low shelf lower, dremeled the flat top of the lever, installed and uninstalled everything 10+ times, and swapped 3 different cams and levers out to troubleshoot. I have also tried it with 3 different lowers, 5 uppers, 5 bolts, and 3 pre-cut triggers. Used paint pen to mark parts in an attempt to diagnose where binding occurs. I’m at my wits end - please help me.

I am trying to figure out how dangerous 3d printed lower for a glock 17/19 is.

Looking for worst story's, or others experiences

Is the worst thst the lower cracks, and maybe scratches you from the force of the gun kick, or is there a chance that some part of the actual explosion can launch plastic like a grenade.
