u/MakeItMakeItMakeIt Did you make this test file? if so, putting a 45 degree wedge under the 90 degree overhand on HALF of the bottom side, would be a HUGE bonus. I'm getting good "flat" interfaces but on angles it's still coming out a bit rough.

Polymaker polylight PLA pro is the choice here

polymaker polytough max is ok, costs more, and isn't more ideal, just stiffer. Pro is a better blend for our use

Duramic scores high on strength, some people like esun but I hate it. Elegoo and bambu are meh

Sorry I somehow missed this!! Let me preface by saying I am by no means a pro here, im actually just getting started!! I've just been doing a bunch of studying and testing.

Be sure to do all your filament calibrations, especially flow-rate! I'm running a Qidi Q1 Pro and this was Elegoo PLA Pro. Manual Tree Paining has been something I've been after using the fill option and reducing my angle size. Also, important to mention I got good results without ANY supports on the pic section on the Handguard. Seems like they may not be needed for vetical oriented pic rails. how the railcut outs are not designed for a 45• shape. they got a sharp corner so te me how your printer can print this clean in the air without supports

    I really like duramic

If thats the part i think it is (ar22) you dont need supports on the pic rails. All of my pic rails in that orientation come out great.

Think it looks solid. You'll get some kind of roughness when your support material is the same as your model. I usually clean them up with snippers or a deburring tool. If you can't do multi material, I'd mess around with support interface settings, specifically interface layers and distance. It's just one of those things you need calibrate for each filament

U mind sharing ur orca support settings?

  • u/-domi- · 2025-04-02 21:02:15 UTC · score 1

What are some preferred PLA+ brands? Everything i read says there's no solid definition of the blend, and every manufacturer does their own take on the concept. :l

vertical up usually end up with pretty good rail or easily fixable, I wonder how it works at an angle

  • u/Porter_Haus · 2025-04-02 16:13:23 UTC · score 11

When you say arched half circle do you mean the Brim? I grip and rip with pliers then clean up with a de burring tool or exacto

They aren't much different from pump action shotguns, as best I can tell.

  • u/bigfoot_goes_boom · 2023-06-16 20:15:16 UTC · score 3

Now that I think about it the ez 22 would be much better to base it off due to the exterior mount for rubber bands being a perfect spot to have the pump connect too

  • u/iRacingVRGuy · 2023-06-16 04:07:45 UTC · score 1

So "some day"? Do you roughly know how people are expecting them to work mechanically? Like "Apple Pie with really stiff recoil springs so 'effectively manual action' because the round won't have the strength to cycle the action itself"?

  • u/iRacingVRGuy · 2023-06-16 19:59:26 UTC · score 1

I'll look into the HD 22. Thanks for the heads up!

  • u/iRacingVRGuy · 2023-06-16 04:06:21 UTC · score 1

Ah, bummer. I was hoping for something where things were cycled manually. Thanks for the info though.

  • u/john_rules · 2023-06-16 02:05:24 UTC · score 1

Maybe you could modify the monarch or apple pie to take a cmmg 22 bcg or integrate the pump action mechanism into another design \¯(ツ)_/¯

  • u/Impossible-Brain8043 · 2023-06-16 03:13:41 UTC · score 1

just finishing my apple pie build, in the docs it says that you can run the cmmg , but it would be a semi auto , with a pump for charging

  • u/bigfoot_goes_boom · 2023-06-16 14:33:26 UTC · score 3

I’d think it wouldn’t be that hard if you use the hd 22 as a base. You could add some very light external lockup to keep it in battery but your hand would probably be more than enough.

2 issues. Obviously frame cracked. First time it happened when I went to lift the gun by the grip after adding additional weight from a milsurp sten mag there is also a heavy uh-1 optic. I then did my own jb reinforcement inside the fcg pocket and jb welding the grip right to the frame. I think it failed the second time because of oil not letting the jb adhere. Failed right away when I went to shoot the second time shit a few hundred more anyways. After this happened I had a flashback recolection of reading that the Magpul k+ grips tend to break the db9. Did I dream that or has anyone had the same issue? Printed a second frame a little hotter(first printed colder for less gloss) but want to make sure I mitigate another failure. Second issue is the round lodging horizontally. I had about 400 rounds on my JC upper and most mags wo

I’ve been troubleshooting my py2a g21, every time the slide comes forward the mag falls out and I can also pull the mag out very easily, I have 3 magazines and they all do it. Ordered a new spring and mag release but they are both oem glock, anyone had this problem before? If I push in on the mag release from the back side it holds them in perfectly but it just doesn’t seem like it’s keeping enough tension on the mags py2a g21 lower printed in polymaker asa

For the ppl who printed their baffled muzzle devices which one u did and how u like it

Someone (presumably from this subreddit) had just today sent me a message request asking about making some parts for the M1337, and I fat-fingered the "ignore" button when trying to open it to reply. Big sorry man, if you see this try and message me again.

I'm building a DeAR22 upper, and realized I had a spare barrel nut lying around. I'm very tempted to use it, but do y'all think there could be issues down the road with a metal nut on printed threads?

The small bit I know about material science makes me a bit afraid to do it given the hardness difference, but not smart enough to know if it's substantial enough to be a problem
