The Ark @fosscad.io Suggestions for a first printer?

I've been wanting to get into 3d printing for a while but I have no idea where to start. What are some good first printers? Budget friendly.

The Ark @fosscad.io A Prayer to Saint Hoffman

Oh Saint Hoffman,
Pioneer of polymers, guardian of the fire rate, We praise your hands, steady as FMDA rails, And your mind, sharp as a hardened nozzle.
In the name of freedom and filament, You breathed life into plastic and purpose. You taught us that freedom is printable, That strength comes in layers, And that nothing matters more than super safety.
You revealed the might of PLA+, Strong, reliable, and unyielding— A filament forged for battle and built to last.
Bless our extruders with consistent flow, Keep our supports minimal and our overhangs mighty. Bless our builds with tight tolerances, Our prints with clean lines, And our hearts with the spirit of creation.
Through you, plastic becomes purpose. Through safety, we endure.
Amen

I am curious what people in this community think about this. I am torn, of two minds, about the idea. I think this kind of technology was inevitable, and on the one hand: OK, I am not doing anything illegal so... yep. And on the other... do people need to start demanding a bill of sale if they buy a used printer? Do they need to worry because some jackass a city away has the same model? If the technology gets better, will "they" be able to fingerprint your prints from a picture? I might be ashamed of some other prints getting tied back to me...

Going to print frame but I’m trying to go as budget as possible any tool recommendations since I’m a complete beginner also everything in the pic should equal a function Glock correct after I print a frame for it of course.

After a lot of trial and error, finally got it to run smoothly. Will be posting the build and details in comments.
Special thanks to u/bruhcaden (highly recommended vendor) also Bore Buddy for their high quality parts, and Grey Market Research for recommending using 40 grain Remington Thunderbolt

Finally pulling the trigger and starting a G17 build (first printed project). downloaded the glock v2 gigapack. My question is how do I know what type of slide can fit with these frames? Trying to get my shopping list together and realized I don't know what gens are compatible with the g17 frames. Thanks for everyone's help up to this point
The Ark @fosscad.io Could a Stainless Steel Switch Explode? Saw a 3d one Fly Out on YouTube

I recently watched a video where a 3d printed AS (switch) exploded and flew out the back of a 3D-printed housing. The damage was semi-contained because of the printed material, but it got me thinking—if the switch is stainless steel and not properly filed/fitted, could that cause a runaway gun or even a catastrophic failure?
From what I’ve seen, most switches that don’t fail seem to have better finishing/tolerances, but I can’t find much info on what exactly causes these failures. Is it poor fitment, material fatigue, or just bad design?
Has anyone else seen this happen I’m curious about the engineering behind why some hold up and others don’t.

I’m building an FMDA 19 after a successful 17 and 26, but I’m having an issue with the rails and locking block. They won’t sit flush with one another and they’re both from MAF as 19 parts. Did I potentially get the wrong stuff? Should I cut the locking block down a bit? Still super new to 3D2A stuff 😅

The Ark @fosscad.io Question

So i know virtual foundry filament isn't all pure metal and is just metal with a plastic holder. But would it be stronger than PLA+? Long as I have a kiln to debind and sinter the parts and upscale it to account for shrinkage I should be good right?
Reason I'm asking is, I can't find a pm63 barrel that's threaded and the one place that makes them don't have any till more demand for them happens. My goal was either
- 3d model and print the barrel then use a milling machine (smaller size one I don't have a big 10k machine)
- 3d print it out of metal from VF and then mill it out for the bullet for 9x18mok
Plus I have other projects I wanna try doing metal with parts that don't need to handle high pressure or heat.

Well if you mix the chopped fiberglass the consistency of resin becomes very viscous
Like think strawberry jam. The thicker the better
