I only use PLA+, PA6-CF, PAHT-CF, TPU, ASA. PLA-CF is known to be weak.

  • u/Wozjak · 2023-05-26 03:09:04 UTC · score 1

    I had no problem.

I have a roll of CF NYLON I have not opened yet, would printing with a .4 nozzle be to trouble some with clogs? And just stick to a .6 or a .8

  • u/CFGFH · 2023-05-26 01:09:04 UTC · score 4

    Ah fuck fair enough, thanks

  • u/ezafs · 2023-05-26 00:38:36 UTC · score 13

Incrediblely bad. Straight up weaker than regular PLA.

Well the slide/upper half of the frame might break off and go flying, which could be dangerous

    Thanks for the comment

I'll check it out. Thank you for the comment

You want PLA+ or CF Nylon

  • u/CFGFH · 2023-05-26 00:34:35 UTC · score 2

Is PLA-CF bad for printing 2A?

  • u/Alternative_Blood834 · 2023-05-26 02:43:13 UTC · score 0

Absolutely... Let's assume there's a catastrophic failure at those points shown... How would that create a dangerous situation? These aren't pressure bearing points... Nothings going to explode bc of this

  • u/KoalaCode327 · 2023-05-26 12:55:34 UTC · score 5

The value that CF adds to a material is rigidity and warp prevention. It does this at the cost of impact resistance.

When you're looking at filled materials you have to keep this in mind. With PLA the problem that needs to be solved in increasing impact resistance (which is one of the big reasons PLA pro or PLA plus exists). Adding CF is going the opposite way that you need to go for this material.

For something like Nylon, the CF (or GF) fill helps because those materials have plenty of impact resistance and not enough stiffness so trading some 'extra' impact resistance for more stiffness makes total sense there.

Edit: Check out this materials comparison by polymaker - it will make charts for you to compare the specs of their various materials. This will help you pick the right filament for the job you want to do going forward:

No doubt this will break. Printing with cf Pla is a lot more brittle. Pla plus is minimum. I used this stuff for a small shelf to hold my filament dryer and it cracked apart in a few days

  • u/lethxLx3 · 2023-05-27 20:22:25 UTC · score 1

    CF PLA is too brittle

  • u/MrReceipts · 2023-05-26 01:07:40 UTC · score 5

If you can break it apart with your hands then no you shouldn’t send it.

    Pla-cf

    No

  • u/ezafs · 2023-05-26 00:33:34 UTC · score 13

No, because you printed with CF-PLA for some reason 🤦🏽‍♂️

If you hate your hands, I'd send it.

Just saw an ad for this on Facebook. It seems very impressive, although a little little demanding in terms of the heat needed to print it was wondering if this would be good for a nylaug as well as other 3D printed components like frames and receivers

Moved the tower feed lips to the rear 2.5 mm, and made the fitment less tight to accommodate a wider range of lower receivers.

Thank you to those that tested the model and provided feedback. Any more issues, let me know.

So I finally started on my journey outside of glock-world and put together a FN 5.7.With the hammer pack and slide already assembled, Id say this build is much easier than a glock. But then again, a glock is pretty straight forward as it is.Nonetheless I would rate the build difficulty at a 5.

1 very easy, 10 very difficult.

Outside of the printed frame(sunlu pla+ 2.0), the only printed part I used was the slide takedown lever. The printed slide lock/release button didnt want to stay attached. Even withusing super glue. So I just used the button that came with the kit.. Along withsome super glue, as even that button wouldnt stay attached to the slide lock lever.

When I took the completed frame to the range, it took about 20 rounds or so forthe thing to cycle properly. After

    Help with diagnosing pa6-cf issues

    Hi all,

Making my first attempt at printing pa6-cf and could use some help troubleshooting. I've printed many pieces with my P1S using Overture PLA+ and always get perfect results. I'm attempting to print Polymaker PolyaMide PA6-CF and getting some of the worst print failures to ever come out of my machine. My filament dryer (never dried any of my PLA+) is an air fryer, and I'm printing out of a polymaker dry box with dried silica packets inside (the built in hygrometer reads at a very stable 10%). I'm printing with a recently upgraded hardened steel 0.6mm nozzle and hardened steel extruder gears.

Details: The first picture is an organic support test file printed after drying for 20 hours (over several days, not continuous - I never opened the air fryer during this period) at 170º F/76º C. My air fryer

Scored a nice EC9s parts kit that has everything but the FCU. Has anyone worked on a ECU for these yet? I've got one to pull measurements off of and figure I might try and give it a go. Only issue is I suck at CAD only due to inexperience this might be a tough project to learn on I guess we only live once though lol.... but if anyone has already got a start on this I would sure be greatful of advice and resources.

Hey hey I’m trying to track down a stl for the palmetto state armory at-v lower receiver! If anyone knows of one or if anyone is interested in designing me one I’d be forever grateful. I’m not super new to 3d printing but I have never really messed with designing at all. It’s a whole other skill that hasn’t been necessary for me to learn till now and I’d really love to avoid it because it seems extremely time consuming for as little as I would design personally!!

So a couple days ago I started making an aug ss. Everything printed well but, I ran into an issue. As you can see in the picture the trip doesn't sit flush and flexes when I put it on my bolt. Now to make sure I printed another one and same issue flexes and the holes for the rods are too small. So I ask has this happened to anyone else?

Lock Pick standard stock conversion rail.

With the idea of making the 1022 Lock Pick as modular as possible I've drafted this simple conversion rail that allows you to run your Lock Pick in any standard 1022 stock.

You can also rail mount or use the stand alone that's already on the sea.

Speaking of I'm putting the final touches on a v2.0 standalone and chassis that eliminates all hardware and pints as one part. It also eliminates the possibility of flex by inletting the rear of the chassis to slide farther rear ward and hold the stand alone securely. V1.0 has the classic looks but v2.0 is smaller, stronger, and more versatile.
